The Awards are given in honor and memory of Ernest and De Verne Calloway. Ernest was the former Director of Education for Teamster’s Local 688 and his wife De Verne was the first female African American State Representative elected to the Missouri Legislature.

The 2016 Awardees are: Petee Talley, Secretary/ Treasurer, Ohio AFL-CIO Martin Matthews, CEO Emeritus – Matthew Dickey Boys & Girls Club and Richard Trumka, President, AFL-CIO

  • Petee Talley, is being honored for outstanding labor, political and community leadership in Ohio and throughout the nation.
  • Martin Matthews, is being recognized for his lifelong commitment and dedication for youth educational and physical development in the St Louis Metro Area.
  • Richard Trumka is being honored for his community support during the Ferguson uprising and leadership in addressing internal and external racial and economic justice issues.

Keynote Speaker: Terry Melvin, International President of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists and Secretary/Treasurer of the New York AFL-CIO.
