Our History

Lew Moye, president of the St. Louis chapter of the Coalition of Black Trade Unionists, explains the importance of collective action in gaining rights for workers. Mr. Moye began working in a Chrysler factory in the 1960s. He eventually worked his way up to become a shop chairman for the union. Most critically, Mr. Moye has continually fought to ensure that African American workers are represented fairly within unions, and he has never been afraid to join other campaigns for justice.
